Terms & Conditions
Effective 13 July 2026 · Scrintime is operated by IERO, United Kingdom.
1. About the service
Scrintime is a parental-control service operated by IERO ("we", "us"). It consists of a web dashboard at scrintime.com and a Windows application that, once installed on a device and paired with your account, applies the screen-time limits and content rules you configure. These terms are a contract between you and us; by creating an account or installing the app you agree to them.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password and your 6-digit device PIN confidential — the PIN protects the Windows app from being disabled, so treat it like a password. Keep your account email current: it is how we contact you about your subscription and the service.
3. Plans, billing and cancellation
The Free plan (2 devices) is free for as long as we operate the service. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment provider, Stripe; prices are shown at checkout and include VAT where applicable. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from Billing in your dashboard — cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and devices above your remaining limit stay registered but no new devices can be added until you are within it. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email; changes apply from your next billing period.
4. Acceptable use
You may install the Windows app only on devices you own or are legally authorised to manage — typically your children's devices as their parent or legal guardian. You must not use Scrintime to monitor adults without their informed consent, and you should tell your children that the device is managed. Attempting to disrupt the service, probe its security, or use it for any unlawful purpose is prohibited and may result in suspension.
5. The Windows application
The app enforces your rules by managing the device's hosts file and firewall, resists tampering, and updates itself automatically with signed releases. It is designed to restrict internet access, so misconfiguration can block sites you did not intend — rules can always be corrected from your dashboard, and the app can be removed with your PIN via its uninstaller.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation; devices keep enforcing their last received rules while offline. We may add, change or withdraw features as the service evolves. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice.
7. Your data
How we collect and use personal data — including your children's usage data — is described in our Privacy policy. In short: we collect what the service needs to work, we do not sell data or use advertising trackers, and you can delete your account and its data at any time.
8. Liability
Scrintime is a tool that helps you manage screen time; it does not replace supervision, and no filter is perfect — determined users may find ways around restrictions, and lawful content may occasionally be blocked or missed. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms — in particular the acceptable-use rules — or that remain unpaid after reasonable reminders. Where practical we will warn you first. On termination your devices stop receiving rules and your data is deleted after a grace period.
10. General
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If we update these terms we will post the new version here and, for significant changes, notify you by email. Questions? Use the contact form.
